Bone Broth and Health: A Look at the Science — Kaayla Daniel, Ph.D., CCN (AHS14)

  • Health

A South American proverb claims “Good broth will resurrect the dead.” While that’s clearly an exaggeration, chicken soup has enjoyed a reputation as “Jewish penicillin” and bone broths are served to convalescents all over the world. In this presentation, Dr. Daniel will review the science that supports consuming bone broth for healthy bones, joints, skin, digestion, immunity and emotional stability. She will discuss 19th and early 20th century studies on gelatin, as well as recent investigations into the “conditionally essential” amino acids proline, glycine and glutamine and “the essential sugars” N-Acetylglucosamine and N-Acetylgalactosamine. Finally, she will report on Dr. John F. Prudden’s clinical trials healing osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s, and even cancer with cartilage. In short, much science supports the ancestral wisdom of consuming bone broth.

having it twice daily, easy to make, tastes great, and my soup tastes
awesome, marrow bones cost me $5 for 8 meals. the fat and marrow jelly is
rock solid and in my fridge ready to scoop out and use.

God I want some broth RIGHT NOW….!!!

Got to get some good bones, no GMO. grass fed free range.

I gotta find me a farmer.

    I want feet bones.
    I want fish heads.
    I want pigs feet.

    Do them all.

Have to look into Great lakes gelatin. That guy seemed on the ball.
    Might be good enough.

My 13 year old daughter suggested this.

    An amazing kid.

Lindsey is a future vegan, when she buys the breasts, she does not vomit,
maybe she thinks they come from the boobietree!!! btw the gelatin and meat
attached on the cartilage and the bone is the best part! adding it to an
oat meal ,is just the best thing for winter….add cheese and an egg
    inside…the bomb!

Delish!! Wonderful video. I loved all the info. I would be very interested
    in purchasing your book.

A very important presentation! Dr. Kaayla has shared information here that
can literally change the world. Her upcoming book “Nourishing Broth: An
Old-Fashioned Remedy for the Modern World” (due out 9-1-14) is sure to
enlighten many in the astounding ways in which bone broth soup can nourish,
strengthen and heal. Her humor is greatly appreciated in AHS circles and
her research is above reproach. Take notes or buy the book – but especially
    – start weaving bone broth soup into your diet. It is life-changing.
Additionally, Dr. Kaayla has sounded the alarm against eating soy products
(maybe some people are not happy with her about that). ‘Best to use only
soy candles – not a good food.

Considering the fact that there’s next to no evidence supporting the idea
that MSG is harmful, the speaker certainly goes out of her way to disparage
it. (Providing no supporting evidence, as per usual.) But that’s the power
of bandwagons for you. And we in the paleo community are not immune to the
    bandwagon effect.

Thanks for sharing…stumbled on this video while looking for broth/stock
recipes because of unsatisfied skill mediocre stew. Clarity is understood
(I really thought stewing bones was gross and nasty, but now I’m cool with
the process) Now I’m going to invest in making more stews, gelatin, broth
    and stock

I’m thinking this would be a big hit in care homes. See if they serve this
befor applying and strongly request that they do 🙂 One video i saw,
suggested adding 1 tablespoon of organic vinegar to the bone broth to bring
out minerals from the bones. This was for pets but why not for us too!

Great information; this ND obviously knows the science and has done her
research. I had no idea cartilage and marrow were such powerful healing
foods. I can’t wait to try her recommendations out. She is entertaining,
as well, which really help access the info.

I love that you’re stressing the importance of being healthy and feeling
good instead of talking about getting a “bikini body” or “lose 5 pounds for
summer!” like a lot of people do. It’s much more positive and it’s far
more important to be healthy than it is to be skinny :)
